It's Sarah vs. Joe, here are a few pieces of unsolicited of advice.
Sarah:
1) Answer the questions. Evasion is the worst thing you can do.
2) Pause and breath. The rap on you is inexperience, reciting from memory won't help.
3) Debate Barack. You've still got more star power than Joe, don't let him take you to his level.
4) Be likable. You're a winner because people like you. Tell a joke, smile and be in good humor
5) Become the "change agent." Debate "Washington," next to Joe people will believe you.
Joe:
1) Be kind. You're the sort of guy who can tell, listen and laugh at a joke. Keep that attitude.
2) Debate John. You're the adult. Don't get distracted, there's no need to correct Sarah.
3) Demonstrate your knowledge. Tell stories about what you've seen/done.
4) Don't try too hard. Obama they love, you're the insurance in case he can't handle something.
5) Be causal. Sarah's the one on trial tonight, you just need to show up and not screw up.

2,3,5 done by Palin. However, biggest pit fall was her evasion of questions and change in topics. It almost seemed petty in some instances (even though the issues were not). She did make a good case for herself and defended her lack of experience well.
Biden did what he needed to do. Prove to the American public that his choice as VP will only strengthen Obama's candidacy. His mannerisms and candor put the listener at ease and allowed someone to believe what he was saying. He attacked, but did not fight (if that makes sense). Biden did what he needed to do: had a good game so to say.
Based on that...I say Biden walked away a winner.
I absoulutley agree. In the first third Palin created her own series of questions. Her " I would like to revist an earlier point..." mentioned items that had yet to be discussed. However the rest of the night she settled for the focus of misdirection and created a case for herself of VP qualifications.
However the victory goes to Biden. He was confident not arrogant. Passionate not incendiary. He conveyed a sense of credability by both citing his record and utalizing his depth of knowledge.
My initial thought is this debate won't last more than a few news cycles, certainly not after the debate on Tuesday. Biden didn't take her out, she didn't assuage all of the concerns about her candidacy independent voters have. I'm not sure her decent performance will be enough to halt the Obama/Biden momentum of recent days and I'm certain it won't be enough to reverse the momentum of the race. I'm interested to see some polls on this, specifically among undecideds.
